KCRCC Lincoln Day 2020

Yet another Lincoln Day is in the bag folks…and it was packed and a fun time. The Chuckleberries team got to rub elbows with many elected officials and candidates, plus see many old friends. A few of the highlights from our perspective you might not hear elsewhere:

  1. The flash mob was a cute spontaneous addition. Well done to whomever organized it! (Shut your pie-hole Duane, it was fun!)
  2. We never knew Bill Whittle was a gamer, nonetheless he made some interesting points from that perspective.
  3. The VIP section was off the chain…if you didn’t go, next year please do.
  4. The volunteers helping out did an outstanding job.

Take-away from the candidates:

  1. Richard Whitehead- We enjoyed what you said in your campaign speech, but your bald eagle comparison to your last name seemed to fall flat with the crowd. Other than that, you did a great job.
  2. Alex Barron- Both when we spoke with you, and in your speech you didn’t really reveal anything of substance about what you’d bring to the table if elected. You just stick with the typical talking points that any conservative should believe…you gotta do better than that if you wanna get votes. And your dig that you’re the only true conservative in the race….dude that was not only low, but off the charts grade A narcissism. At least you were friendly in person, and yes we did appreciate your humor.
  3. John Grimm- Was disappointed we didn’t get to hear you speak, but we did enjoy visiting with you and your wife.
  4. Bob Norris- We missed chatting with you in person, but you did a good job working the crowd in your campaign speech. Not sure using being from Cali worked being both a strength and a liability worked as intended…but in context it held water and the crowd seem to enjoy.
  5. Marc Eberlein- I’ll admit I was indisposed for part of your speech. But what I heard you did a great job…and it seems you shot from the hip without a prepared speech. Bonus points for that.
  6. Tim Kastning- Enjoyed mingling with you in the crowd and hearing what you stand for. Wish you’d have been able to speak…we can’t wait to hear more from you.
  7. Doug O- I don’t know how we missed talking to you…kept seeing you in passing and saying “howdy”, but little more than that. Was hoping to hear you speak as well, to see how you handled a crowd.
