Chuckleberries just learned that a Rathdrum man was threatened with arrest at the Coeur d’Alene July Fourth parade for attempting to carry a Ron Paul banner in the parade. Jude Doty and several of his children lined up behind the Republican Party’s parade entry with his 10 foot long Ron Paul banner. Doty did this while the parade was being staged in the back streets of Coeur d’Alene. According to Doty, the chairman of the Kootenai County Republican Party told him not to carry the banner. And Ben Wolfinger, who is the Republican Party primary winner for the office of sheriff, was actually on the telephone calling “his guys” to come and get Doty.
Others intervened, Doty backed off and Wolfinger got off the phone. But according to Doty, when the parade got going, he jumped into the line-up and walked the distance of the parade with his Ron Paul banner. Doty claims that since he was a Kootenai County delegate to the Republican Party State Convention held in Twin Falls only two weeks prior to the parade, that he should have been allowed to march in the parade and support the candidate of his choice. Doty also pointed out that there is no official GOP presidential nominee until the National Convention is held in Tampa Florida later this summer.
