Was It A Declaration of Stupidity…

…dishonesty or something else?…

Looks like Little Ronnie Lahr’s got some splainin’ to do!  It seems he may have put himself into a bit of a pickle with the United States Patent and Trademark Office…How, you ask?????

Well, on May 5, 2012,  it appears he signed a “declaration” that was filed with the USPTO which included the following language:

Declaration

The undersigned, being hereby warned that willful false statements and the like so made are punishable by fine or imprisonment, or both, under 18 U.S.C. Section 1001, and that such willful false statements, and the like, may jeopardize the validity of the application or any resulting registration, declares that he/she is properly authorized to execute this application on behalf of the applicant; he/she believes the applicant to be the owner of the trademark/service mark sought to be registered, or, if the application is being filed under 15 U.S.C. Section 1051(b), he/she believes applicant to be entitled to use such mark in commerce; to the best of his/her knowledge and belief no other person, firm, corporation, or association has the right to use the mark in commerce, either in the identical form thereof or in such near resemblance thereto as to be likely, when used on or in connection with the goods/services of such other person, to cause confusion, or to cause mistake, or to deceive; and that all statements made of his/her own knowledge are true; and that all statements made on information and belief are believed to be true.

Signature: /Ron Lahr/

Date Signed: 05/05/2012

Signatory’s Name: Ron Lahr
Signatory’s Position: President

Now looks harmless enough…right???? Well until you read a little closer and see that Ronnie declared under penalty of perjury that…

“…to the best of [his] knowledge and belief no other person, firm, corporation, or association has the right to use the mark in commerce, either in the identical form thereof or in such near resemblance thereto as to be likely, when used on or in connection with the goods/services of such other person, to cause confusion, or to cause mistake, or to deceive…”

Well, now, isn’t that something!  Keeping in mind that the application was to protect the words “Kootenai County Reagan Republicans”, not the nifty little Ronald Reagan/Idaho Silhouette, GOP Elephant logo, Little Ronnie made his declaration even though the State of Idaho has granted official corporate status to the “Kootenai County Reagan Republicans, Inc.” therefore granting that organization the legal RIGHT, to use the name for all purposes within the state of Idaho!  Ronnie was well aware of that fact before he signed the declaration.  Ooops…wonder if someone gave him legal advice to do that????? (Rumor has it that Ronnie told the people who served him notice to stop using the KCRR name to “Get the hell out of my office!”)

So it’s shaping up to be quite a Battle Royale…The Kootenai County Reagan Republicans, Inc. vs. The Kootenai County Reagan Republicans (Pretenders)…our money’s on the guys who are recognized by the State of Idaho…(Hey, Jim Bendell…better get your fee up front!)

Oh, and by-the-way…in case you were wondering who LRL claims owns the name KCRR?….Here is the list from the official Trademark Application….

Stay Tuned Chuckle Fans!  Apparently a Protest is being prepared to be filed with the USPTO and giving them the real facts behind the “Reagan Republicans”

  1. So, the Pachyderm Presidents, Luke Sommer and Bob Brooks are tied to the Reagan Republicans? What is the history of the Reagan Republicans – why, when and where did they start? Who was behind their organization?

(Note from Chester: It would be interesting to know if Brooke and Sommer actually gave permission for their names to be included on the application for the trade mark. As far as we can tell the old KCRR appears to exist to funnel clients to Strategery…aka Lahr and Jeff Ward. BTW, a little litigation might be a good thing because the real Reagan Republicans could get to look at all the financial information about the old Reagan Republicans and could even depose Ward and Lahr…that would be fun!)
